The contest puts some emphasis on placing a virtual instructor in the cockpit which is what Project Festoon does.

The contest has expectations that improvements will come from new computers and airframes, Project Festoon challenges that expectation looking at improving the existing aircraft population by using old planes and no computers all for minimal cost.

Some performance judged parts of the requirement may not be attainable with a stock aircraft.

Modifications to consider or radical ideas, not shown else where in the website are here.

June 1st is the deadline for submitting information about the aircraft to be entered.

The aircraft has to have removable fiberglass mounts made to accept the barometric probe used to test performance characteristics. Maybe someone has already made 172 mounts?
